Jar

Jar makes sure the only cookies kept on your Mac are from sites in your history, bookmarks or top sites.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which browsers does Jar support?

Jar supports Safari 3.0 or later and Firefox 3.0 or later. BTW, Jar doesn’t use any undocumented APIs, plugins, haxies, input managers, etc.

How do I ensure a sites cookies aren’t removed?

In Safari or Firefox, bookmark the site using the Bookmarks menu. If the site is in your Bookmarks, Jar won’t remove it’s cookies.

I needed to re-enter my login details for a website site. Why?

You may find you need to re-enter the login details for a website if that site is no longer in your Safari history or isn’t included in your bookmarks and it’s cookies have been removed by Jar.

How often does Jar clean my cookies?

Jar cleans your cookies about every three hours. Jar can only clean Firefoxs cookies if Firefox isn’t running. If Firefox is running when Jar attempts to clean it, Jar will clean its cookies immediately after Firefox is quit.

Will Jar slow down my Mac?

No. The cleaning process is highly, highly, optimized so it’s very fast – you’ll never notice that you have Jar installed.
